Grand Mesa National Scenic and Historic Byway

Cedaredge is located approximately between mile markers 9 and 12 of the Grand Mesa National and Historic Byway. Breathtaking scenes overlooking endless forests and over 300 lakes is the easiest way to describe the 63 miles of the Grand Mesa Scenic Byway (Highway 65), which takes you 6,000 feet skyward into a magical Colorado alpine experience. Travel through 4 major ecological zones on this beautiful drive. From Plateau Creek's desert sandstone canyon to the evergreen-rich, rarefied air of the Land O' Lakes Area, most of Western Colorado's geology is represented.

Recreation

Recreational opportunities are numerous. In town, Cedaredge maintains a lush downtown Town Park with plenty of room to enjoy family and friends or just roam around.  A playground and two tennis courts also striped for pickleball are maintained at the Town Park. High Country Park, adjacent to the grocery store, boasts a gnarly dude skate park, a community garden and holds promise for many more community outdoor amenities. Throughout many heavily used routes are pocket parks with picnic areas. The Cedaredge Golf Club affords life for the leisure seeker on the front nine or challenge and spectacular vistas for all that venture to the back nine. Neighboring communities maintain a rodeo arena, a multi-plex baseball and soccer facilities, fairgrounds, recreation centers and swimming pools. 

Just a few minutes' drive outside of town brings you to world-class outdoor recreational opportunities. The area provides unprecedented access to the great Colorado outdoors including a variety of opportunities available from the 10,000 foot+ elevation on Grand Mesa, the largest flat top mountain in the world, to motorized and non-motorized access to the Gunnison Gorge. The Gunnison River, the Black Canyon, Powderhorn Ski resort and many other public lands are within a short drive from Cedaredge. We've got the recreation you crave: cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, sled dog racing, hiking, biking, fishing, hunting, 4-wheeling... the list is endless!

Cedaredge demographics tout 30% of residents are 65 years of age and older. This percentage is not an anomaly. Many retirees choose Cedaredge because it does not feel like a retirement community.
